Athletics and Recreation

Our athletics programs help students balance their studies with high-level competitive excellence—which is why so many of our athletes have gone on to be competitors and coaches in both professional and Olympic sports, and successful in sports related industries.

Wesleyan is a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC, an 11-member league in NCAA Division III). We have 28 varsity teams and 25 club and intramural sports teams playing in state-of-the-art facilities.

Nearly 800 students participate in intercollegiate sports each year, and 56% of our student body is active in either varsity, club, or intramural sports every year. While academics are their priority, they put incredible commitment and discipline into building their skills on the field, rink, and court.

Student-athletes possess the courage it takes to achieve at their highest levels, and the camaraderie to be part of a united team.

Visit the official site of Wesleyan Athletics for schedules, news, and stats.

Club Sports

Club sports are organized by students and offer an alternative to varsity athletics for those who want to participate on a less demanding schedule. These teams practice together multiple times a week and occasionally compete against other schools.

Intramural Sports

Intramural Sports bring students together on campus to enjoy building team spirit, staying active together—and having fun. Our intramural sports include basketball, indoor soccer, soccer, and softball.
