Retention of these accounts beyond active affiliation with Wesleyan is restricted.  Student email is delivered to and faculty/staff email is provided through .  These are not optional.  ITS will not accept requests to change email delivery. Both environments support access through desktop and mobile clients.

Passwords

Passwords are the essential element to account security. Account breaches are far more common from sharing passwords than from brute force attacks. Users of the system should never share their password or provide their password over email to anyone.  Wesleyan's Computer Usage Policy expressly forbids password sharing.

Users may change their password via the Password Manager application in .

Forgotten Passwords

Password resets can be done by going to the single sign-on page and clicking on the "Forgot Your Password" link. This will take you to a page where you can reset your password by using an alternate email on file in the system or the last four digits of your Social Security number and your WesID number. The alternate email must be set up in advance under personal information in WesPortal. Faculty and Staff requiring additional help may contact their Desktop Support Specialist or contact operations at ext. 2128. Students requiring additional help may contact the ITS Student Helpdesk at ext. 4000 with any questions.

WesPortal

Office365 and GSuite

Wesleyan uses , Microsoft's cloud-based suite of productivity apps and services. This provides access to the latest versions of Word, Excel, OneNote, and every other Office app on up to 5 personal computers, tablets, or phones as well as 1TB of cloud storage through OneDrive for Business. It also enables collaboration features inside the Office apps you already use just by signing in with your Wesleyan credentials. Faculty and staff email is accessible through the Office 365 web portal.

Students have access to the suite of products on Office 365 and, while they are a student, may download and install the Office applications on their personal devices from the Office 365 portal.  Upon graduation, access to the online versions of Office applications will continue to work however locally installed versions will expire.

Student email is delivered to Gmail in Wesleyan's environment.  As with Office 365, all faculty, staff and students may use GSuite products with their Wesleyan username and password.  This includes Google Drive storage.  Wesleyan entered into a separately executed contract with Google.  This contract has provisions that are specific to the University's needs and differ from the standard commercial end-user license agreement in force with a personal gmail.com account.
